Literacy - Key Stage 1

English Alphabet

A good demonstration tool to show how letters should be formed and the sounds they make. Each letter is illustrated with a picture which begins with the sound.

The Magic Key

Literacy games set around Oxford Reading Tree characters. Useful for teaching capital letters and full stops.

Word Play

An amusing way to introduce children to verbs. Children can see words behave like their meanings. There are a total of 25 words.

Capital Letters and Full Stops

A resource that introduces the idea of capital letters and full stops in sentences. Children can practise matching lower case letters with capitals and teachers can discuss where capital letters are required.

Lists and Instructions

Interactive activities on writing lists and instructions. Children need to think about the order for carrying out familiar tasks. They can also write and print their own instructions.

A geography site, but the first activity is literacy based. It looks at adjectives which describe the weather.

Using Similies to Enhance Writing Skills
