Maths - Foundation  

Numbers to 20

The site begins by going through the numbers to 20, however you can advance to look at individual numbers. Hear their names, see how they are written and represented by objects.

Big and Small

A resource which looks at mathematical vocabulary 'big' and 'small', 'short' and 'tall'. It is introduced through a story and then pupils can complete sorting and ordering activities.

Simple Patterns

Simple shape and picture patterns for the children to complete. They will need to recognise colours too. There are worksheets to print with similar activities.

The Building Game

A 3D shape sorting game where children have to differentiate between different shapes and colours.

The Story of 1

The activity introduces pupils to the number 1 through a story. They will then learn how the number is formed and have a chance to recognise the number from a selection of others.

The Story of 2

Children can follow the character as she finds two of every item and then find out how the number is formed. There are games to where they can recognise the number.

The Story of 3

This has a story set around the number 3 together with activities where children can learn to recognise and write the number 3.

The Story of 4

Here the story is set around a character who finds four of everything. There are activities based around the number 4.

The Story of 5

There are number recognition games where young children can learn the number 5 and a story all about 5 which teachers can discuss. Pupils can also learn the correct number formation of 5.

The Story of 6

Designed along the same lines as the other 'Story of' sites this website has a story and games featuring the number 6.

The Story of 7

Children can learn about the number 7 with stories and games based around this number.

The Story of 8

A good site for learning about the number 8. There are counting activities and games.

The Story of 9

The last in the 'Story of' series looks at the number 9. Again there is a story and activities based on the number 9.

Compare, Order and Measure Length

Learn how to order different lengths and the words that we use like shortest and longest.

Count and Order

A delightful simple counting and ordering site using the numbers 1 to 6 which young children will love. Activities can be repeated as the numbers are randomly generated.

Higher and Lower

Odd or Even

A drag and drop activity at three levels of difficulty, the hardest being numbers up to 100. Move the numbers into the correct place on the Venn diagram.
